An Optimization Methodology for Hazardous Waste Landfill Sites Based on Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Evaluation

  • As a case study of two proposed hazardous waste landfills (E and F) in a city, through the comprehensive comparison of the geological condition, venue construction, environmental protection, transportation and other factors, a method based on analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy evaluation method for hazardous waste landfill site selection was proposed. On the basis of the evaluation index system and the judgment matrix and the weights established by AHP, the index factor corresponding membership functions and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation matrix were established, by using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. The comprehensive suitability evaluation scores of the landfills were calculated combining evaluation matrix and index weights and, referring to the levels of suitability standard of hazardous waste landfills, the best site was chosen. The results showed that the comprehensive score of E was 96.3, which was the best site. F scored 86.8, and it was the suitable site.
